WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. — The Connecticut Airport Authority announced a change on Tuesday that will go into effect on Wednesday at the TSA security checkpoints at Bradley International Airport.
At the time of the announcement on Tuesday, Bradley International Airport had two TSA security checkpoints inside its main terminal, Terminal A, with one centrally located in the lobby of the departures level and the second located between the United Airlines ticket counter and the hallway to the Sheraton Hotel.
Beginning Wednesday, all TSA PreCheck lanes will be shifted from the main security checkpoint to the second TSA screening checkpoint, according to a release from the airport on Tuesday. The screening location will be used by passengers enrolled in TSA PreCheck and those who have both TSA PreCheck and CLEAR.
CLEAR allows passengers to skip the line completely instead of waiting in line, as they can approach a CLEAR kiosk where their ID and boarding pass are verified through biometric technology. TSA Precheck costs $78 for five years, while CLEAR costs $189 per year, according to nerdwallet.com.
At Bradley International Airport, beginning Wednesday, passengers who do not have TSA PreCheck will continue using the general TSA screening lanes found at the main TSA checkpoint, which will have additional lanes for screening.
According to the airport’s release, CLEAR will remain available at both security checkpoints.
The new changes will allow the overall TSA screening process to become streamlined, the release said, which will create more efficiency and convenience for all passengers.

“We are always looking for ways to enhance the security screening process and to make travel easier for our passengers, especially during busy timeframes of travel,” said Keven A. Dillon, A.A.E., Connecticut Airport Authority executive director. “We would like to thank our partners with the TSA and CLEAR for helping to make this improvement possible.”
According to the release, passengers are still encouraged to arrive inside the main terminal with enough time to check in with their airline and go through the appropriate TSA checkpoint.
Bradley International Airport is New England’s second-largest airport and is operated by the Connecticut Airport Authority. Its operations are entirely self-funded, according to the release, which said the airport contributes $3.6 billion to the regional economy.
