WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. — A new collaboration at Bradley International Airport is ushering in new technology to make it easier for travelers enrolling in TSA PreCheck.
The Connecticut Airport Authority, or CAA, is partnering with the Transportation Security Administration, or TSA, and the secure identity company CLEAR to bring more efficiency to the state’s busiest airport.
According to a release from the CAA, CLEAR pods will be used as authorized enrollment and renewal locations for TSA PreCheck. Travelers can start the TSA PreCheck application process online and complete enrollment and verification with a CLEAR ambassador located inside the terminal near the main TSA security checkpoint in the Windsor Locks airport.

No appointments are needed. TSA PreCheck enrollment through CLEAR is active each day from 4 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The CAA says TSA PreCheck identifies travelers who the TSA deems to be low risk. When passengers are approved in the TSA PreCheck program, they pass through a designated and expedited security screening process, during which they don’t have to remove their shoes, laptops, approved liquids, belts or jackets.
CLEAR also facilitates a faster verification experience by utilizing biometric technology to confirm the identities of travelers. According to the CAA, a CLEAR ambassador will then escort travelers to the front of the security line. Travelers at the airport can use CLEAR pods to enroll in TSA PreCheck or can bundle TSA PreCheck and CLEAR Plus for a screening process that the CAA describes as “more expedited.”
Bradley International Airport has its own dedicated screening area for authorized TSA PreCheck passengers. It is located at the A2 TSA security checkpoint. The CAA was created in 2011 to develop, strengthen and operate Bradley International Airport and the state’s five general aviation airports, including Danielson, Groton-New London, Hartford-Brainard, Waterbury-Oxford and Windham. The CAA endeavors to make Connecticut’s airports more appealing to airlines, bring in new routes and support the state’s overall economic development and growth strategy.
As New England’s second-largest airport, Bradley International Airport contributes $3.6 billion to the regional economy.
