Connecticut man identified as victim in Vermont homicide

The victim was identified as Wilmer Rodriguez, 27, who died of multiple gunshot wounds.

HARTFORD, Conn. — A Hartford man was identified as the victim of a homicide that happened in Vermont. 

The victim was identified as Wilmer Rodriguez, 27, who died of multiple gunshot wounds. The cause of death was a homicide. 

Vermont police investigated a suspicious death that occurred on Saturday night, Oct. 14. At around 6:45 p.m., police received a call reporting a man had been shot inside a home on Farrar Road in Newport. When police arrived, they discovered a man dead at the scene.

The victim's body was taken to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office in Burlington for an autopsy. Police said they believe after further investigation that the shooting was a targeted and isolated event. 

No suspects are in custody.
