Hartford police identified a Newington man as the victim of fatal crash Sunday morning.
Jacob Uterstaedt, 26, of Newington, died in the crash.
The crash involved two vehicles, a pickup truck and a car. Newington Avenue was closed for the investigation. The crash happened near the intersection of Marion Street.
Police said, "Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles involved in a head-on collision and two injured operators. The operator of the southbound vehicle was pronounced deceased on scene by responding EMS personnel. The operator of the northbound vehicle was transported by ambulance to Hartford Hospital where he is listed in stable condition."
Police said evidence indicates that the sedan involved crossed over the double yellow lines and collided with the pickup truck that was being operated northbound.
Police said this is the 10th fatal crash of 2020. At the same point last year, there had been five fatal crashes.
