Killingly woman arrested after pro-Palestine protest in New Hampshire

When police arrived they said protestors were blocking the driveway "voicing their support for Palestine."

KILLINGLY, Conn. — A Killingly woman was arrested following a pro-Palestine protest at Elbit Systems, an Israel-based international defense electronics company, where the building in New Hampshire had been vandalized. 

Bridget Irene Shergalis, 27, of Dayville, Connecticut, was arrested and charged with riot, sabotage, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, and disorderly conduct. 

According to Merrimack Police, at around 7:54 a.m. on Monday, officers received calls from employees of Elbit Systems that protestors were blocking the driveway and people believed to be on the roof. Fire crews were also dispatched after reports of smoke coming from the roof. 

When police arrived, they said protestors were blocking the driveway "voicing their support for Palestine." The protestors eventually moved and let officers access the building.

The front of the building had been spray painted with red paint, windows had been smashed, and at least one of the main lobby doors had been locked shut with a bicycle anti-theft device, police said.

Police were able to confirm that at least three people accessed the roof. When police got to the roof, they found three people and arrested them without incident. 

The other two people arrested and charged were identified as Sophie Marika Ross, 22, of Housatonic, Mass., and Cala Mairead Walsh, 19, of Cambridge, Mass.

Police also found damage which consisted of spray painting, smashed skylights, and damage to HVAC equipment while cleaning the roof.
