The LIFE STAR App:

Who is it for: The general public, EMS professionals, and Hospital professionals throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.

What: Created a smartphone a tablet app that can be used on the iOS and Android platforms

Why:

  1. LIFE STAR often receives inquiries from the general public as to what we do and how they can learn more about us. This often times comes in the form of Helipad tours to speaking requests to static displays at public events.

  1. EMS and Hospital Professionals: Upon working with our community partners in EMS and Hospitals, it was recognized that the creation of a tool that could provide rapid, concise information on LIFE STAR, and the criteria for transport would be valuable to provide a community quicker and better access to not only LIFE STAR’s services, but also the tertiary care services they require for definitive treatment.

Benefits to:

Public:

  1. General information about LIFE STAR and who benefits from its services
  2. Interaction with LIFE STAR through social media
  3. FAQ with question submission
  4. An aircraft virtual tour
  5. Photo Gallery

EMS and Hospital Professionals:

  1. Information about LIFE STAR and your patients that is exclusive to your professional role (ie: A physician does not need to know how to setup an LZ)
  2. One-touch phone access to the 24 hour LIFE STAR Communication Center
  3. Graphical safety brochure
  4. Pre-Designated Landing Zones with real-time GPS mapping (Participating Departments)
  5. Receive alerts from LIFE STAR
  6. One-touch access to Hartford Hospital’s Patient Transfer Center
  7. Neonatal and Pediatric quick reference guide
