The driver was arrested in connection to the September 2023 crash that took the life of another teen.

NEW MILFORD, Conn. — A 17-year-old boy was arrested for a crash that killed another teen last year in New Milford.

The 17-year-old was arrested Thursday in connection to the September 2023 crash that took the life of Julio Gomez, also 17.

The three-car crash happened on Danbury Road (Route 7) in front of Italia Mia on the afternoon of Sept. 22, 2023. The teen arrested is accused of speeding, which was determined to be the cause of the crash, police said.

The teen faces manslaughter and assault charges and failed to wear a seatbelt, according to police. The teen appeared in court on Friday.

Gomez was a 12th-grade student at New Milford High School.
