NEW MILFORD, Conn. — A person has died after being struck by a car in New Milford on Thursday evening.
New Milford police said that officers responded at 8:45 p.m. to the area immediately south of New Milford High School for a report of a car versus pedestrian collision.
Officers found a male victim who was in the right-hand, southbound lane and began resuscitation efforts. However, the man was pronounced dead at 9:20 p.m. by paramedics.
The person has not been identified.
Police say eyewitnesses said that before the collision the man was trying to cross Danbury Road, which is a four-lane divided highway, from the northbound shoulder area towards the southbound shoulder area.
Police did not provide any information regarding the vehicle or its driver, or if they stayed on scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
