TORRINGTON, Conn. — No injuries were reported after a speeding vehicle crashed into the porch of a house on Prospect Street in Torrington Saturday morning, according to a release from the Torrington Police Department.
Sgt. Kyle Johnson said in the release that at approximately 6:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to Prospect Street, near Pearl Street, after a vehicle crashed into a residence there. A 25-year-old woman was reportedly driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala, which was traveling at a high rate of speed just before the crash.
Johnson said the Impala passed through a red light at the intersection of Prospect Street and Church Street before becoming airborne.
“The driver subsequently lost control, and the vehicle began skidding along the roadway, jumping a curb into a yard, where it collided with a flagpole and eventually came to rest underneath the porch of (a residence), causing significant damage to the porch,” Johnson said in the release.
No significant injuries were reported by the driver or her passenger, and no residents of the house were injured, the release said.
No one has been charged, as the incident is being investigated. Any witnesses to the crash are encouraged to contact Officer Richard Loucks at 860-489-2090 or RLoucks@TorringtonPD.org.
