TORRINGTON, Conn. — A man was arrested in Torrington Wednesday after attempted robberies at a TD Bank and Dunkin', the town's police department said.
Police said Kyle Witkoski, 38, formerly of Southington, is facing robbery in the first-degree charges for both incidents, alongside charges on three outstanding warrants for failure to appear from Southington police and Hartford police. He is currently being held on a total of $700,000 in bonds.
The first of the incidents took place Saturday night. According to police, Witkoski went into the Dunkin' restaurant on Main Street, claiming that he had a weapon and demanding money from the cash drawer.
Witkoski was chased out of the store by another customer in the drive-thru before receiving any money, police said.
On Tuesday at 11 a.m., police said they arrived at the TD Bank in the Torrington Commons Plaza on High Street after receiving a report about another robbery. Police said they learned that a suspect, believed to be Witkoski based on surveillance footage, entered the bank and slipped a note to a teller, implying that he had a weapon.
Witkoski left the bank on foot and was gone before officers arrived, police said.
It is currently unknown if a weapon was ever used or displayed during either of the incidents.
According to police, Witkoski was located on South Main Street at 2:42 p.m. on Wednesday and was arrested "without incident."
Witkoski was previously arrested by Southington police in February after attempting to rob a convenience store and later a gas station, according to the town's police department.
