Increased police presence planned for New Hartford schools after written threat

Police are reacting to a recent non-specific written threat in New Hartford.

NEW HARTFORD, Conn. — There will be an increased police presence at schools in New Hartford on Thursday after what police are calling a non-specific written threat.

Troopers at the North Canaan barracks learned of a recent non-specific written threat in New Hartford. According to police, the threat was not directed toward any specific location within the town, however it referenced Thursday, December 19, 2024, as the date of the potential incident. 

Police and officials at the Northwest Region 7 school district decided to have the State Police increase the presence of Troopers around local schools on Thursday. 

There is no known actual threat to the public at this time.
