PAWTUCKET, R.I. — Police arrested a Boston man on a charge that he struck and killed an off-duty nurse who was helping someone at the scene of a car rollover in Rhode Island.
The crash happened on Interstate 95 in the early morning hours of Sunday in Pawtucket, police said. They said the crash killed Jennifer Toscano, 34, of Stoughton.
Police arrested Luis Baez, 22, and charged him with driving under the influence of liquor or drugs resulting in death, among other charges, WHDH-TV reported. Baez is scheduled to appear in a Rhode Island court on Monday.
A phone number listed under Baez's name was disconnected on Sunday. It was unclear if he had hired an attorney.
