Two people die after shooting in Manchester commuter lot

MANCHESTER, Conn. — Connecticut State Police are investigating how two people were shot fatally in a commuter parking lot near the Shoppes at Buckland Hills. 

Both victims were taken to Hartford Hospital, where one patient died. In a statement Sunday afternoon, state police identify the deceased as 20-year-old Jennifer Hicks, of Massachusetts.  

A second person  has been identified as Gregory Scott, 24, of Massachusetts.

Scott died from wounds sustained during the course of the shooting.

The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. in a lot off of Buckland Street. The commuter lot is state property, placing the crime in the jurisdiction of the CSP. On Sunday morning, police were examining a white Jeep Wrangler in the lot. 

Detectives from the Central District Major Crimes Squad (CDMCS) say that approximately 100-200 people were at the scene at the time of the shooting. They have not said why the crowd was gathered.

CDMCS is requesting that if anyone has any information about the shooting, please call Troop H at (860) 534-1000. All information will remain confidential. 

Breaking: State police investigating a shooting in Manchester

At approximately 2:00am Troopers from Troop H responded to  a report of a shooting at the commuter lot off Buckland Street in the town of Manchester. It was determined that there were two victims with gunshot wounds. Those victims were transported to  surrounding hospitals. One of the victims succumbed to their injuries.  The victim has been identified as Jennifer Hicks, 30, of Massachusetts.  

Detectives from the Central District Major Crimes Squad (CDMCS) are investigating this  incident. It was determined that approximately 100 - 200 people were at the scene at the time of the  shooting and could possibly have witnessed this incident. CDMCS is requesting that if anyone has any information pertaining to this shooting to please call Troop H at (860) 534-1000. All information will remain confidential. This case remains under investigation.
