SIMSBURY, Conn — FOX61's Keith McGilvery won the award for Best Anchor at the first-ever CT Broadcasters Association awards Tuesday evening.
The event was held at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville. It involved radio and TV stations (both commercial and non-commercial and college) in Connecticut.
Following the ceremony, McGilvery reflected on the award.
"It's an honor to be the inaugural recipient of the CBA's best anchor award," he said. "I am grateful to do a job with people, and in a community that I care deeply about. I've always believed that our platform is a privilege, and that on our best days, we're able to use it to celebrate the best of who we are and to give a voice to those who deserve to be heard."
Other journalists from FOX61 that were nominated were Jeremy Fair, nominated for Best Photojournalist, Nate Gagne, nominated for Best Photojournalist, and Lindsey Kane, nominated for Best Reporter.
FOX61 was also nominated for Station of the Year.
On Monday, FOX61 Chief Meteorologist Rachel Frank, Meteorologist Rachel Piscitelli, and former FOX61 meteorologist Ryan Brenton were awarded for Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Innovation from the RTDNA in New York City.
