2-car crash involving school bus with kids inside under investigation in Haddam

The students involved later went on a different bus to go to school, according to firefighters.

HADDAM, Conn. — Two people are in the hospital after a multi-vehicle crash involving a school bus in Haddam on Wednesday morning.

Haddam volunteer firefighters and EMS responded to the 500 block of Saybrook Road around 8:20 a.m. for a crash involving two cars and a school bus with kids inside.

The two car drivers, the bus driver and the children on the bus were evaluated on the scene, firefighters said. Two people were taken to an area hospital. It is not clear who was injured and how many children were on the bus at the time of the crash.

The students involved went on a different bus to go to school while under the school principal's supervision, according to firefighters.

Both lanes of Saybrook Road were closed and traffic was rerouted down Walkley Hill Road. The area has since been reopened.

Connecticut State Police is investigating the crash.
