MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — A medical helicopter brought a person to the hospital Sunday morning after a large shed fire in Middletown, according to the Westfield Fire Department.
Just before 9 a.m., Westfield firefighters said they went to the area of Delwood Avenue and Grove Hill Road for a report of a structure fire.
Arriving at the scene, Deputy Fire Chief Jason Lubee reported that there was "a large shed on fire with a possible explosion" and one civilian hurt.
Multiple crews brought the fire under control, according to WFD. A Life Star helicopter brought the injured person to Bridgeport Hospital for burns they sustained.
The Westfield Fire Marshal's Office, along with the state of Connecticut Fire Marshal's Office, is investigating the fire.
Middletown Firefighters Local 1073, South Fire District Firefighters IAFF Local 3918, Cromwell Firefighters IAFF Local 4662, Middlefield Volunteer Fire Company and East Berlin Volunteer Fire Company, assisted with the fire, WFD said.
