MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — Middletown police are investigating a serious head-on crash that left a person injured on Tuesday morning.
At around 10:38 a.m., police were called to the area of Washington Street near Sagamore Hills Apartments on the report of a crash.
Officers found two vehicles in the roadway, which sustained heavy front-end damage from what police believe to be a head-on collision.
The driver a grey 2004 Mazda 3 was trapped in his vehicle. Fire personnel responded and removed the driver and he was rushed to Hartford Hospital for a suspected broken leg. He is reported to be in stable condition.
The second vehicle, a black 2012 Chevrolet Traverse, had both a driver and a passenger inside. Both occupants of the Chevrolet appeared to be uninjured but they were taken to Middlesex Hospital for evaluation.
Witnesses in the area told police that the Mazda was traveling west on Washington Street when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The Mazda crossed the centerline and struck the Chevrolet which was traveling east on Washington Street.
Police ask anyone with information on the crash to contact Officer C. Sienko at 860-638-4000.
