State trooper injured in Meriden after crash

Although the trooper was hospitalized, the injuries are believed to be minor.

MERIDEN, Conn — A Connecticut State Trooper is hospitalized after his cruiser was hit on Interstate 91 South in Meriden, near Middletown

State Police officials said Troop H responded at 7:40 p.m. to a report of a State Police cruiser being hit on I-91 South in the area of Exit 19. 

The injured trooper was assisting with a call for service in the left lane when a Cadillac Escalade hit the cruiser.

The trooper was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries no other injuries were reported.

The Cadillac driver was issued an infraction for driving too fast, failure to maintain lane and failure to move over for an emergency vehicle.
