Body recovered in search for missing boaters after Old Saybrook crash

EnCon said the victim's body was recovered around 12:10 p.m. Friday in the Connecticut River.

OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. — The body of a second victim of the deadly boat crash in Old Saybrook earlier this week has been recovered in the Connecticut River midday Friday. One is still missing.

The Dept. of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) EnCon Police announced the update Friday afternoon.

The recovered male victim has not been identified. EnCon said the victim's body was recovered around 12:10 p.m. Friday in the Connecticut River.

EnCon said it will continue Friday night and then resume Saturday morning to search for the remaining missing boater.

The family of the remaining victim said that they were wearing a dark shirt, green pants, and blue belt, EnCon said. Anyone boating in the area who sees the described clothing is asked to call 911.

Both of the two missing boaters were men in their 20s, according to officials.

The rough winds have posed a challenge in the search, EnCon said.

Nine people were on board when a boat hit the jetty on Monday night. Christopher Hallahan, 34, of Westbrook, was pronounced dead at the scene, while six were rescued. One of the two boaters missing was recovered Friday.
