OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. — A stabbing was reported in Old Saybrook Friday afternoon by the town’s police department, and an arrest was subsequently made.
Quintin Petty, a 62-year-old resident of Deep River, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and breach of police, according to Old Saybrook police.
Officers responded to a report of a person stabbed around 2:07 p.m. Old Saybrook police say the stabbing took place in the small alleyway between Stop & Shop and Paradise Wines & Spirits at 665 Boston Post Road.
After the stabbing, the victim was able to make it back to their place of employment, the Burger King at 607 Boston Post Road, where police provided aid. The individual who was stabbed was then taken by ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital and is listed in stable condition, according to Old Saybrook police.
Old Saybrook police located Petty and on North Main Street around 2:51 p.m. and took him into custody without incident. Petty’s bond has not yet been set.
While no additional arrests are expected, the investigation remains active. Old Saybrook police have determined the incident to be isolated in nature.
