KILLINGWORTH, Conn. — Editor's note: Video above originally aired in July 2024.
Two motorcycle riders are in the hospital after a pick-up truck ran a stop sign and hit them on Route 80, according to Connecticut State Police.
Troopers were called to the intersection of Route 80 and Roast Meat Hill Road in Killingworth around 4:45 p.m. Friday to process the scene.
A Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling west on Route 80 when a Toyota Tacoma going south on Roast Meat Hill Road did not stop at a stop sign and hit the motorcycle.
Both occupants of the motorcycle, a man and a woman of the same Guilford address, fell off the bike and were seriously injured. One of them had to be airlifted to an area hospital. An ambulance took the other occupant to the hospital. It's not clear who was driving the motorcycle at this time.
The 85-year-old Higganum resident driving the Toyota was not injured and refused medical care, state police said.
State police are investigating the crash and will take enforcement action.
Anyone who saw this crash or has dash cam footage is asked to call Trooper Melanie Rennie at 860-399-2100.
