National Night Out: List of participating Connecticut police departments

This year, it's happening on the evening of Aug. 6 in many Connecticut cities and towns.

HARTFORD, Conn. — National Night Out is returning or debuting in many Connecticut communities this August. It's an annual event put on by local police departments to bring the community and law enforcement together with food and fun activities.

This year, it's happening on Tuesday, Aug. 6, generally between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Some communities may be holding it on different days and at different times.

Here's a list of participating communities in Connecticut:

Branford

Branford Town Green, with free meals starting at 5 p.m. and activities starting at 5:30 p.m.

Community Dining Room is accepting food and diaper donations.

Brookfield

Brookfield Town Hall from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

There will also be a cornhole tournament.

East Hartford

East Hartford Police Dept. at 31 School St. from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.

East Haven

Splash Pad Park from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

East Lyme (Cancelled)

Flanders Elementary School from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

East Windsor

East Windsor Park and Reservoir from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Enfield

Enfield Town Green from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Glastonbury

Riverfront Community Center from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Groton

Poquonnock Plains Park from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Hamden (postponed)

Postponed to Tuesday, Oct. 1 due to anticipated inclement weather.

Hartford

Keney Park, Woodland Street entrance from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Manchester

Moved inside Eastside Neighborhood Resource Center from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Meriden

Moved from Hubbard Park to Platt High School. Event runs \from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Middletown

Middletown Police Dept. on Main St. from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Monroe

"Night at the Park" at Wolfe Park from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

New Britain

Central Park from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Campus police from Central Connecticut State University will be in attendance.

New Haven (Postponed) 

Troup School on 259 Edgewood Ave. from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. New date TBD. 

New London

Ocean Beach Park from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Newington

Newington Police Dept. on 300 Garfield St. from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Newtown

Newtown Community Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Norwalk

Happening Thursday, Aug.1 at Norwalk Police Headquarters from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Somers

Field Road Park from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

South Windsor

Pavilion at Nevers Road Park from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Suffield

Suffield High School from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Vernon

Downtown Rockville, 20 E Main St, Vernon from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Wallingford

Postponed to Wednesday and moved to South Main Street from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in conjunction with Twilight Tunes concert.

Doolittle Park from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Waterbury (Cancelled)

Waterbury City Hall on 235 Grand Street from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Wethersfield

Greenfield Park from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Windsor

Windsor Town Green from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
