NAUGATUCK, Conn. — A 16-year-old was arrested Sunday night for stealing a Honda Civic according to police.
Police were called to the corner of Culver Street and Homestead Avenue around 8 p.m. Sunday because of a car with damage, according to a Naugatuck Police Department Facebook post. The caller reported a teen with “puffy hair” had abandoned a car in the residential neighborhood.
Police discovered the car was stolen from Ridgefield. They knew a 16-year-old who lived in the residence and was recently arrested for stealing a different car.
K9 Hardy, a recent K9 academy graduate, tracked the scent from the abandoned car to the teen’s home where a witness confirmed the teen was who he saw leaving the car, according to police.
The teen was arrested and taken to police headquarters where he was charged then released to his parent.
The teen was scheduled to appear at Waterbury Juvenile Matters Court Monday morning.
