BEACON FALLS, Conn. — Two children from Bridgeport were killed after the vehicle they were in was rear-ended in Beacon Falls on Sunday afternoon.
Connecticut State Police responded to a crash on Route 8 just before 3:30 p.m. They said two vehicles – a Honda Civic EX and a Ford F600 Super Duty pickup truck – were northbound on the left lane of Route 8 near exit 23.
At some point, the Ford truck rear-ended the Honda Civic, causing the vehicles to leave the road and hit a concrete barrier.
The two drivers were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The front-seat passenger in the Honda was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Two children – ages 3 and 6 – were critically injured and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
State police did not immediately provide more details about the crash. They asked if anyone may have witnessed the crash to contact Trooper McCue at CSP Troop 1 by calling 203-393-4200 or emailing Daniel.mccue@ct.gov.
