BRANFORD, Conn — The driver in a crash on I-95 in Branford on Tuesday morning has died, state police confirm.
State Police officials said that Troop G responded at 10:04 a.m. to a one-car motor vehicle collision that occurred on I-95 South, south of exit 55 in Branford. Investigation showed that one vehicle was traveling on I-95 South in the right lane.
Police say for an unknown reason, the driver lost control of the vehicle, veering off the roadway onto the right shoulder. When the vehicle exited the roadway, it struck a traffic control sign and a roadside rock wall.
The collision sequence caused the vehicle to roll over and the driver was ejected. The driver was the only person in the vehicle and was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital by EMS where he was pronounced deceased.
The highway was closed in the area for three hours. The case remains under investigation.
Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Trooper Ronald Bouzy #1152 via email at Ronald.Bouzy@ct.gov.
