NAUGATUCK, Conn. — Naugatuck police are searching for the owner of a dog that was found abandoned and 'covered in feces', officials said.
On Saturday, Naugatuck Animal Control responded to a report of a 'dumped dog' in the town's Industrial Park where they found the animal abandoned near a plastic 'transport-type' crate in the roadway, police said.
The dog and its crate were both found dirty with feces. Police said they have reason to believe that the dog may have been confined in the crate for an extended amount of time.
Police did not name the type of breed of the dog, but included photos in a post on their Facebook page. Animal control said the dog is a female.
Police said that the Naugatuck Animal Control are looking for the community's help to identify the owner or anyone who may have seen the dog being abandoned. Anyone with information that could help with the investigation is asked to contact animal control at 203-729-4324, or their confidential tip line at 203-720-1010.
