SEYMOUR, Conn — A Bethany man was arrested after running away from a car crash he got into on Route 8 on Friday night.
State police were called to Route 8 North near Exit 22 in Seymour around 10 p.m. for a report of a two-vehicle crash with injuries.
An investigation determined that a Mercedes-Benz 380SL hit the rear of a Nissan Sentra. The Nissan then crossed over to the left lane and hit the concrete barrier in the median, state police said.
Arriving troopers found the Mercedes bearing Connecticut license plates on the right shoulder, with damage to the front end of the car. When troopers ran the plates, they determined the plates were not assigned to the Mercedes and that the car did not have a valid registration or insurance.
The driver and passenger of the Nissan were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. A state police K-9 team searched for the Mercedes driver, who was not found at the scene.
State police found Brandon Graham, 34, on Main Street in Seymour. State police said he denied being involved in the crash.
State police took Graham into custody based on the evidence they collected at the crash scene, troopers said.
Graham was charged with evading responsibility, interfering with an officer, operating a vehicle under suspension, and failure to travel a reasonable distance apart. He also faces multiple insurance and registration charges.
Graham was released on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 26.
