Lawrence Maenza, 45, was convicted on Feb. 1 of two counts of first-degree sexual assault and two counts of risk of injury to a minor, as was announced by New Haven Judicial District State’s Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr.
Doyle said that evidence at trial showed Maenza sexually assaulted the children in multiple locations across New Haven and Hartford counties. The cases were joined for a consolidated trial in New Haven Superior Court.
Maenza will have to register as a sex offender for life and complete sex offender probation for an additional 15 years after his sentence, Doyle, Jr. said.
“We thank the young victims in this case for having the courage to come forward and tell their story,” Doyle, Jr. said.
According to Doyle, Jr., the cases were investigated by the Branford and Wethersfield Police Departments. He also thanked the Department of Children and Families and the Yale Child Abuse Clinic for their assistance.
