East Haven woman facing new charge in roadside death of DOT worker, DCJ says

The New Haven State's Attorney's Office waited for the results of a DESPP investigation to be completed before filing the charge, the DCJ said.

EAST HAVEN, Conn. — An East Haven woman is facing an additional charge in the roadside death of a Connecticut Department of Transportation worker from June, the state's Division of Criminal Justice said Monday.

Denise Lucibello, 55, of East Haven, is now facing a charge of manslaughter in the second degree after state police say she hit and killed DOT employee Andrew DiDomenico, 26, who was working on the Wharton Brook Connector in Wallingford on June 28.

She was previously charged with misconduct with a motor vehicle, driving under the influence, illegal operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license, failure to drive in a proper lane and failure to slow down/move over for a non-emergency vehicle.

According to the DCJ, an investigation by the Connecticut State Police and CSP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad, both of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, resulted in the filing of the manslaughter in the second degree charge.

The New Haven State's Attorney's Office waited for the results of the investigation to be completed before filing the charge, the DCJ said.

In July, a Meriden Superior Court judge reduced Lucibello's bond to $500,000 and included that if she was able to post the bond she would not be able to drive a motor vehicle. The judge also ordered a mental health evaluation.

Lucibello was previously found guilty multiple times, including once for driving under a suspended license, from 2016-2018.
