HARTFORD, Conn — A New Jersey man was charged with assaulting four officers in East Haven Friday night.
Jose Valentin Duran-Castillo, 41, of Phillipsburg, N.J. was charged with Criminal Violation of a Protective Order, Criminal Trespass in the First Degree, Breach of Peace in the Second Degree, Interfering with an Officer and four counts of Assault of Public Safety Personnel.
Police said they were called to a home for the report of an unwanted person. Duran-Castillo had a restraining order against him and was at the home of the victim who said he had shown up, had an altercation with people in the home and refused to leave.
Police said Duran-Castillo assaulted officers at the scene and later when he was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
The officers sustained minor injuries.
Duran-Castillo was held on a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
