HAMDEN, Conn. — A symbol of hate has been found at another Connecticut university, this time, etched onto a locker at Quinnipiac.
The university informed students, faculty and staff in an email on Wednesday of a second swastika found on campus. It was found Tuesday, scratched into a smart locker on the York Hill Campus in Hamden.
"Such hate speech is abhorrent, it can be threatening, and it violates our code of conduct and character at QU," the university said in its email.
Campus police are working with Hamden police to figure out who put the swastika on the locker. Security protocols have also been stepped up out of extra precaution.
Anyone with information is asked to call or text QU Public Safety’s confidential tip line at 203-582-6201.
Students seeking support services can call counseling services at 203-407-4020. Faculty and staff can access the Health Advocate employee assistance program (EAP) at 866-799-2728.
Signs of hate have been popping up more frequently, particularly after the Israel-Hamas war started in October. Earlier this month, "antisemitic graffiti" was reportedly found at the Newington office of the Connecticut Dept. of Transportation, as well as a swastika and a racial slur on the Central Connecticut State University campus.
