SOUTHBURY, Conn. — An officer was recognized Wednesday after delivering packages to residents that were found opened and discarded along the roadside, Southbury police said.
Officers responded Tuesday to a report of abandoned packages that were found on the side of the road, police said. While a few were found unopened, most packages had been opened with contents missing.
To ensure that residents received their packages in time for the holidays, police said that an officer decided to, "personally deliver all packages to their rightful owners."
While the officer decided to remain anonymous, according to a recent Facebook post, police called the officer a "#HolidayHero" for their efforts to deliver the packages on time.
Police officials said that video footage showing the officer's efforts to deliver packages to residents will be made available eventually.
