MERIDEN, Conn. — Meriden police said Tuesday that they arrested a 16-year-old after an investigation into a bomb threat made to Platt High School.
The teen is facing charges of threatening in the first degree and breach of peace in the second degree, according to police.
On Nov. 7, the Meriden Police Department Patrol Division, school resource officers, Connecticut State Police K9s and the Meriden Police Special Crimes Unit responded to investigate the threat made via social media, police said.
"Due to the disruption to the community and learning environment as well as the vast number of resources required to respond to any school threat there is a tremendous impact from these incidents," police said. "These resources include multiple agencies both within the city of Meriden and State of Connecticut. These agencies spent several hours devoted to search warrants and interviews."
Police noted that those involved in school threats will face separate discipline from the school that they attend in addition to criminal charges.
