MERIDEN, Conn — A man who thought he was talking to a teen girl that he allegedly wanted to traffick the area in for money but instead was talking to undercover officers was arrested in Meriden, police said.
On Thursday, Meriden police arrested Gary Taylor, 35, after talking to someone he believed to be a 15-year-old girl.
In reality, he was speaking with undercover officers with the Meriden Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigations, who were collaborating on a joint investigation for the safety of children.
Police said Taylor "expressed interest in trafficking the female in surrounding towns for monetary value." He also traveled to a location to meet with who he believed to be a 15-year-old female. Taylor was taken into custody.
Taylor is facing multiple charges including criminal attempt at risk of injury – sexual contact victim under 16; criminal attempt of sexual assault; criminal attempt at commercial sexual abuse of a minor; criminal attempt of promoting prostitution; and criminal attempt at trafficking in persons.
