Video: Three kids crash stolen car into Meriden home

All three of the kids involved were taken into custody and charged. Two of the three have been released to their parents whereas the driver remains in detention.

MERIDEN, Conn. — Three boys crashed a stolen car into a Meriden home on Friday and have all been charged following the incident, police said.

Meriden police responded to the area of Harrison Street at Elm Street at around 12:45 p.m. after a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a house. When they got there they found out the car that struck the home had been stolen out of Wallingford earlier on Friday.

Prior to striking this incident, the driver of the stolen vehicle hit another vehicle that had been traveling on Elm Street. That driver sustained minor injuries.

The stolen vehicle fled south on Elm Street after striking the other vehicle and traveled through the intersection of Elm Street at Harrison Street without stopping. It then traveled across Harrison Street and struck the home on the other side of the intersection.

The driver of the stolen car as well as two other occupants fled the scene on foot. A perimeter was set up between patrol officers and detectives and a K-9 tracker was sent out.

All three kids were taken into custody.

The home that was struck was occupied at the time of the crash; however, nobody inside was injured. The home did have significant damage from the crash.
