During a ceremony Thursday at the Milford Boys & Girls Club, Bridgestone donated a new passenger van to the club.

MILFORD, Conn. — The community that makes up the Boys & Girls Club of Milford was in for quite the surprise Thursday evening when the club received new passenger van from Bridgestone, the world’s largest tire and rubber company.

According to a release from Bridgestone, the new passenger van, which is equipped with Bridgestone tires, will “provide transportation for kids to get to and from the club, as well as allow for field trips, college tours and other enrichment opportunities.”

The new van will give local children and teenagers more access to high-impact, out-of-school programming, the release said.

“This new van isn’t just a vehicle. It’s a symbol of opportunity, connection and hope for the kids and families we serve,” said Megan Altomare, CEO, Boys & Girls Club of Milford, in the release. “We are grateful for the support of Bridgestone who are truly helping us drive great futures.”

The donations are affiliated with Bridgestone’s “Driving Great Futures” initiative, which has raised more than $20 million to connect youths with Boys & Girls Clubs of America programs and resources throughout the country.

Marko Ibrahim, president of Bridgestone Retail Operations, a subsidiary of Bridgestone Americas that coordinated the donation, said in the release that the team at Bridgestone believes in the transformative power of Boys & Girls Clubs programming to bridge gaps and build strong futures for the youth.

“We are honored to help the Boys & Girls Club of Milford reach more kids and teens who will now have access to life-changing resources and experiences,” Ibrahim said.

Bridgestone established its partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 2015 hoping to make out-of-school programming more accessible to club members and their families.
