MILFORD, Conn. — A person was taken to the hospital on Tuesday morning after a dump truck filled with sand overturned in Milford, according to officials.
At around 7:48 a.m., the Milford Fire Emergency Operations Center received a 911 call for a report of a motor vehicle crash with extrication in the area of Schoolhouse Road near Interstate 95 Exit 35.
When officials arrived, they found a Tri-Axle Truck carrying a full load of sand, rolled over onto its side.
The actual sand load the truck was hauling was used by the first responders to divert diesel fuel that had spilled onto the ground from entering any waterways, according to officials.
A hazmat truck responded to the scene to contain the rest of the leak of diesel fuel and antifreeze.
The driver had self-extricated before the fire department's arrival and was taken to an area hospital for evaluation, according to officials.
The crash remains under investigation.
