MILFORD, Conn — An officer responding to a street takeover Saturday received minor injuries from members of a crowd who attacked him.
On Saturday, a Milford officer was called to the parking lot of Stop & Shop, 855 Bridgeport Avenue regarding a street takeover. Police said the parking lot was occupied by several vehicles and over 100 spectators.
Police said at one point, the officer entered to check on a small fire which was a result of fireworks and M-80s being set off.
The officer was surrounded and was hit, punched, and had an unknown object thrown at his head. He suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. He was released from the hospital and is currently out of work while he receives proper care.
Police said fireworks and M-80s were also set off at the officer’s patrol vehicle. Spectators also jumped the cruiser, causing minor damage.
Milford Police is actively investigating this incident and anyone with information concerning this investigation is asked to contact Master Sergeant Douglass Youd at 203-783-4728 or 203-878-6551.
