NEW HAVEN, Conn. — New Haven Police are investigating a fatal crash that took the life of a bicyclist Thursday morning.
Police said that at 2:07 a.m. they were called to the area of Church Street and North Frontage Road for a crash with major injuries involving a garbage truck and a bicyclist.
The bicyclist, a 24-year-old male from New Haven, was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he died of his injuries. The driver of the truck remained on scene.
Police believe the bicyclist entered the roadway from a sidewalk, however, the Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and is continuing the investigation.
Next of kin has been identified said police but his identification is not being released pending the notification to his family.
Police ask that anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have information valuable to investigators to call detectives at 203-946-6304 or through the department's anonymous tip-line at 866-888-TIPS (8477).
