New Haven police sergeant charged with threatening

Sgt. Louis DeCresenzo has been on paid administrative leave since May due to an internal affairs investigation.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A New Haven police sergeant has been arrested by State Police in connection to threats made in a domestic violence situation said officials. 

Sgt. Louis DeCrescenzo, 50, was arrested Tuesday at the state police barracks in Montville and charged with two counts of breach of peace in the second degree, and two counts of threatening. 

DeCrescenzo had been on paid administrative leave since May due to a complaint received through the New Haven police internal affairs division. Officials said the complaint remains open and no further information will be released until the investigation is completed. 

An arrest warrant from State Police details alleged threats made in person and electronically to the woman DeCrescenz lived with. 

Officials said DeCrescenzo posted a $5,000 bond and was released and scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

DeCrescenzo has been employed by the New Haven Police Department since 2009, He had been assigned to the patrol division.
