NEW HAVEN COUNTY, Conn. — The Red Cross hosted two Multi-Agency Resource Centers this week for Connecticut residents impacted by flooding that devastated parts of the state in August.
The first was held Wednesday in Southbury at the Senior Center on 561 Main Street South from 2-7 p.m. The second was held on Thursday in Naugatuck at the YMCA on 284 Church St. from 2-7 p.m., with walk-ins available and no appointment needed.
According to Red Cross Connecticut, the centers featured recovery teams and agencies, including an assembly of "state and town resources, nonprofits and social services" to provide information and a "one stop shop" for those impacted by residential damage to connect with available resources.
The Red Cross said that their caseworkers were joined by partners from the United Way of Greater Waterbury, Team Inc. and more.
Anyone who was unavailable to visit the recovery centers can schedule an appointment with the Red Cross by calling their 24-hour phone number at 1-877-287-3327.
Following the deadly flooding on Aug. 18, Red Cross volunteers stepped into provide communities with close to 3,700 meals and snacks, and emergency relief items including clean-up kits and other supplies to over 600 families, the Connecticut chapter said. More than 450 households affected by the damaging storms have been helped by the relief efforts and supported by more than 70 trained Red Cross disaster workers.
