SOUTHBURY, Conn. — Six people were arrested Monday following multiple reports of attempted car break-ins in Southbury, the town's police department said.
Police said that they first received an alert at 2:45 p.m. about people attempting to break-in to multiple cars in the Southbury Plaza.
Officers received a second alert "shortly after" about attempted car break-ins at River Glen Healthcare Center on South Britain Road, according to police.
A few minutes after receiving the second alert, police said that they were told by a resident on Horse Fence Hill Road that a car was abandoned in their driveway. Officers responded to the area and found six suspects with burglary tools that matched descriptions reported to police.
Three minors were taken into custody and brought to the Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center, police said. One minor was charged and released on a court summons.
Two 18-year-olds from New York, Manuel Diaz and Maria Delacruz, were also arrested. One was released on a surety bond and one was held and taken to York Correctional Center, police said.
All suspects were charged with larceny 2nd degree, criminal trover, criminal mischief 2nd degree, and criminal attempt at larceny 2nd degree. Two were charged with possession of burglary tools, and one was charged with assault on a police officer, according to police.
