WALLINGFORD, Conn. — A Watertown man has died after the box truck he was driving rear-ended a tractor-trailer on Interstate 91 north in Wallingford on Monday, shutting down part of the highway for several hours.
State police were called to Exit 15 at I-91 North just before 2 p.m.
The box truck was traveling directly behind the tractor-trailer in the middle lane when the box truck hit the end of the trailer, according to state police.
The box truck driver, identified as William Risley, 56, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, where he later died. The tractor-trailer driver was taken to another hospital with possible injuries.
The part of the highway was shut down for several hours as police investigated the scene. The area has since reopened.
