WATERBURY, Conn. — A Litchfield man has been charged following an interaction at the Derby vs. Kennedy High School football game on Friday.
Waterbury police said officers were assigned to a security detail for the game and at the end, there was an altercation on the field between several of the players from both teams.
There were also numerous adults involved on both teams’ sidelines who were trying to calm down players and break up the altercation.
Police said a man on the Derby sideline, later identified as Robert Swierbitowicz, 47, was seen shoving an 18-year-old man to the ground who was later identified as a student and football player from Kennedy High School.
There was no further altercation and no medical attention was required.
Swierbitowicz was placed under arrest and charged with Breach of Peace in the Second Degree.
He was released from Waterbury police custody on a Promise to Appear notice for a court arraignment hearing scheduled for October 31.
