WATERBURY, Conn. — A group of Waterbury Arts Magnet School students made their way to Saint Mary’s Hospital with a gift on Friday, according to a release from the hospital.
Members of the school’s Key Club created and presented a two-canvas art piece to hang in the hospital’s pediatric emergency department waiting room. According to the release, the Key Club students contacted the hospital during the winter and asked if it was okay for them to conduct a project for the hospital before the end of the school year.
The barnyard scene depicted in the piece of art was designed and created entirely by the students, who all are seniors, the release said.
The students said they wanted the design to be recognizable for the young patients and feature material that would make them smile.
The release said it took the students just over a month to complete the art piece.
“Hospital and emergency department leaders are incredibly happy with the final product and are anxious to hang the piece in the pediatric emergency room waiting room,” the hospital said, in the release.
