WATERBURY, Conn. — Waterbury police have arrested and charged a third person involved in a fatal stabbing from December, officials said.
The stabbing, which happened on Dec. 22, killed 37-year-old Jose Virola of Delaware.
According to investigators, it's believed that Virola was involved in an "earlier disturbance" in the day with a woman in the area. That led to a fight between him, 52-year-old Barry Mason, 33-year-old Sean Lawrence, and a third suspect.
Now, police identified the third suspect involved as 52-year-old Markee Malloy. All three men are from Waterbury.
Virola was stabbed during the fight and was later found dead outside of a home on First Avenue.
Investigators initially arrested Lawrence about five days after the stabbing, charging him with murder, first-degree assault, and conspiracy to commit assault, and he was held on a $3 million bond.
Then, the next day, police arrested Mason and charged him with murder, first-degree assault, and conspiracy to commit assault. He also had multiple failure-to-appear warrants for unrelated incidents. He was held on a bond of over $4 million.
Malloy was found and taken into custody on Feb. 3, charged also with murder, first-degree assault, and conspiracy to commit assault. Additionally, police said Malloy had an outstanding warrant for violation of probation. He was held on a bond of over $3 million and is expected in court on Monday.
