WATERBURY, Conn. — Two women are hospitalized, one in critical condition, after a hit-and-run in Waterbury, according to police.
The crash happened near 38 Walnut Avenue just after 8 p.m. Thursday. Officers who responded found two pedestrians -- identified only as women aged 21 and 22.
The women were transported to local hospitals. The 21-year-old is reported in stable condition. The 22-year-old, however, is in critical condition with what are described as "life-threatening injuries."
Police say the driver struck the two women and two nearby vehicles before stopping. They then fled the scene on foot.
Police have not yet apprehended the driver and have not been able to identify them. They ask that anyone with information contact the Crash Reconstruction Unit at 203-346-3975.
