WEST HAVEN, Conn. — The owner of a West Haven gas station is picking up the pieces after an ATM was stolen out of the convenience store overnight Tuesday.
It happened at the Noble Gas station on Boston Post Road, and the owner said that it happened around 2 a.m. Tuesday.
Part of the door was ripped off of the frame, with debris and glass scattered around the entrance as well. The people responsible for this ATM theft got inside the store and ripped the ATM out using a chain attached to a vehicle. the owner said.
Now, the owner has had a busy day dealing with the aftermath. Customers were shocked when they saw the damage.
“It’s a shock. It’s horrible," said Todd Grady, a customer. "These guys are coming to work like the rest of us are, trying to make a living like the rest of us. Who cleans it? The store owners. Who takes care of it? The store owners. Who covers it? The insurance. Their insurance is going to go up. People are going to be a little more nervous. It’s all around bad for everyone.”
The store and gas station remained open Tuesday. FOX61 has reached out to West Haven police for comment.
