West Haven police investigating after shooting leaves person dead in parking lot

WEST HAVEN, Conn. — An investigation is underway after a person was killed in a parking lot in West Haven early Sunday morning, police said.

Officers received 911 calls just after 2 a.m. reporting an "altercation" in a parking lot in the area of Campbell Ave, police said. A male victim with a gunshot wound was found at the scene and taken to the hospital for his injuries.

The male later died from his injuries, police said. His identity is currently unknown.

Officers set up a crime scene and members of the Detective Division are leading the investigation. More information is expected to be released "in the coming days," police said.
