ANSONIA, Conn. — Police have arrested an Ansonia man in connection to the stabbing of a woman in the city on Wednesday.
Ansonia officers were called at 12:30 p.m. to the 300 block of Main Street to investigate a reported stabbing. When they arrived on the scene, officers found a woman suffering from a stab wound to the upper body. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.
William Petaway, 50, was charged with criminal attempted murder, second-degree assault, and second-degree threatening. He is being held on a $750,000 bond and will be arraigned at Derby Superior Court on Thursday.
Petaway was identified as a neighbor of the victim, according to police. Officers were able to make contact with Petaway on the phone, and he agreed to return to Ansonia, where he was taken into custody without incident.
